Another Quick Transit To Chicago: America

12.03.2015

Remember last time when we were in Chicago we were simply fascinated by the history of the river that flows backwards. This time Chicago came as a transit from my trip to Cincinnati,Ohio during Riverfest 2015.We took a Greyhound Bus from Milwaukee, which had mixed reviews online. However we got a deal online and the ride of 2 hours was comfortable - nothing to complain about. Plus it saves tons of money(with ticket as low as $9).

The ticket was for $6 - $8

This time we had very less time in our hands. And so after keeping our luggage in the lockers of greyhound station, Chicago we started walking towards Chinatown just in hope that we could catch something nice to eat in between.

The road which leads to Chinatown from Greyhound Station gets deserted during night hours and we felt a little intimidated of certain people who were on the road at first and so we took a taxi back which costed us around $10 after we had our good time in Chinatown.

In US,at many places, as everywhere else in the world, its best to avoid certain sections. It’s been my 6 months in US and its pleasantly safe overall.

Walking towards Chinatown,Chicago

Chinatown..as it is

We reached Chinatown walking and the entrance to Chinatown had this huge board of 'Welcome to Chinatown'. Many of the shops and eateries were written in Chinese. The whole place has an architecture and look and feel of Chinese buildings.I t was a great walk down the street. And I would recommend it to people who love Chinese food.T here’s lot of authentic Chinese food there.

We had Chinese food at Go4food,Chinatown and we loved it!

Talking of food,it reminds me of last time when we came for a short visit. Chicago is a heaven for food lovers. We haven’t tried so much but whatever we could grab on,we really liked it. One of which was Deep Dish Pizza which is famous from Chicago. Be aware that the Pizza is so yummy that there are waiting everywhere during rush hours. So we had to take a take away from Giodano's , Navy Pier and the Pizza was too good. One whole pizza is more than filling for 2 people.

Chicago-style pizza refers to the most famous pizza known as deep-dish pizza. The pan in which it is baked gives the pizza high edge and a deep surface for the large amounts of cheese and chunky tomato sauce. The primary difference between deep-dish pizza and most other forms of pizza is that, the crust is very deep, creating a very thick pizza that resembles a pie more than a flatbread. Deep-dish pizza is baked in a round, steel pan that is more similar to a cake or pie pan than a typical pizza pan.

Navy Pier is also great for boating, entertainment and rides.

We had breakfast at Southport Grocery and Cafe and we loved it! They have very detailed menu
and great combinations of different flavors of food in your plate.

A visit to Chicago would be incomplete without a stroll down the Michigan Lake and that’s where we picnicked for couple of hours with friends. To end it all,we played bowling at Southport Lanes which had this incredible way of changing dropped pins manually from the back and if you need to score high, you can tip inside the ball and the pins would be tumbled down by someone with a stick. We laughed at this yet enjoyed every time we wanted to score more than we could. With this our short trip to Chicago came to an end.

You could insert tip in the ball to score! ;)
