Hyderabad’s Solar Cycling Track: A Ride of Hype, Hope & Reality

10.03.2025

Cycling has become a new obsession for Hyderabadis. Every Sunday morning or late-night ride tells you the same story: the city is slowly falling in love with its pedals.

And recently, I found myself swept into that same wave of enthusiasm. And now, with the 23 km Solar Cycling Track in Hyderabad making headlines, I knew it was time to find out for myself—is it truly worth the hype?

For a minute, I wondered if I was getting carried away. Was this really India? Am I finally on the cycling track that everyone has been making reels and shorts about? But then came another question: is everyone simply stuck in the idea of a glossy new project, or are we forgetting that travel, discovery, and exploration often come with both roses and thorns?

Hyderabad: A City That Has It All

In the three years that I’ve lived here, Hyderabad has never once made me feel the need to revisit journeys abroad to feel “modern” or “global.” Because truth be told, this city already carries both.

The feeling of being abroad, with its world-class infrastructure and evolving lifestyle. The deep sense of community, rooted in culture, that refuses to fly off its origins. Yes, congestion is setting in here (it’s hard to ignore), but compared to places like Bangalore

Hyderabad still feels like a city that has been built with infrastructure strong enough to keep the “dead economy” talks at bay.

The Track That Everyone Talks About

The solar cycling track isn’t just a 23 km stretch under panels—it’s a statement. It’s futuristic, it’s eco-conscious, and it’s a symbol of where Hyderabad is heading. I’ve passed this route countless times, often telling myself, “Someday, I’ll ride it.”

And like most of us, I kept waiting for “the right time.” But that’s the thing: time is when we make it. Just like the rest of Hyderabad does when they gather in communities to ride together—on Sunday mornings or long after the city lights have dimmed.

My Ride: Pros, Process & Cons

I won’t give away everything here (that’s for my vlog review linked above), but let’s just say this— It’s not all sunshine, but it isn’t all shadows either. And that balance is what makes my experience worth sharing.

Cycling is no longer just a Sunday ritual—it’s becoming a movement. And while I may not be trembling with excitement, I am quietly letting the experience sink in.

Because riding here isn’t just about fitness or fun. It’s about being part of a city that dares to innovate, that doesn’t just rant about what other countries have, but builds its own.

This was my first ride on Hyderabad’s solar cycling track, and this is my quick vlog review where I go deeper into the process, pros, and cons. Full blog post coming soon, but until then—let’s pedal into the future together.
