India too has many events/fairs and festivals celebrated for many years,many of you might not know about.Here's a list of the Indian fairs and events statewise:

1)Kashmir: Kashmir is a poetry of nature.Every terrain promises a different view.From the stunning beauty of its countryside to its many rich culturally attractions,Kashmir is a paradise.While you can enjoy the scenic shikara with the "kahwa" at dal lake,gulmarg promises an altogether different kashmir.World class skii amidst the snow bound mountain,not to forget the amazing cable car.Pahalgam is another scenic place along the "lidder" river while Sonmarg is a gateway to "thwajis glacier".

Festivals in Kashmir:


Tulip Festival : Spring is when Kashmir is at its most picturesque, and is also the season for flowering tulips. This special time of year is beautifully captured by the Tulip Festival in Srinagar, home to Asia's largest tulip garden. There are over 2 million tulips there. As well as this arresting sight, the festival features daily cultural programs, Kashmiri folk songs, sale of local handicrafts, and traditional Kashmiri cuisine.



When: First two weeks of April each year.
Where: Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden, Srinagar, Kashmir. It's located in the foothills of Zabarwan range, overlooking Dal Lake.
Cost: Entry to the Tulip Garden is 50 rupees for adults.

Saffron Festival,Kashmir:

Autumn is associated with saffron flower harvesting in Kashmir. The ideal mix of climate conditions and altitude make for an expanse of violet this time of the year. Some call it an ethereal sight. And rightly so.The flowering season although short but truly a magical experience starts by the end of October and is over by the first week of November.




This festival is held in October every when saffron is in bloom.Kashmiri saffrom is famous the world over and the festival offers an opportunity to see the intricate harvesting of saffron in the colourful fields providing enchanting view during the moonlit nights.

Snow Festival,Kashmir

 

This festival is held in early January & February every year at Gulmarg, the winter Games capital of India,in which winter games teams from various states of the country besides teams from abroad participate in snow skiing,snow boarding, cross country. The Winter Games Federation Of India and J&K Tourism Department organise the festival in which local artists also perform the cultural shows.
