All About Ladakh

Today morning when I woke up,I read this very beautiful quote on travel:

"Let your memory be your travel bag." -- Alexander Solzhenitsyn

Sometimes the memories of a place is so prominent in your mind that you feel attached.Attached to a great extent.I read the quote, read it again, and felt the need to head onto my drawer.Oh those beautiful pearls and stones from Leh,how much I love them.Every beautiful occasion,I wear them, and I feel a great sense of happiness when they are with me.The image below is the necklace from leh I got for 120 Rupees...

Nevertheless, those pearls have the same effect as those kodak printed moments 4*6 photo prints we used to have. Its all digital now,we still love, but we never have the same effect.Same with the difference of email and a postcard or hand written letter. It carries emotions.Wide range of..

Sometimes my friends call me too emotional to drift off from topics. Here I was to tell you about the Leh town.

To many people, the Leh town is a stopover or a base for higher further up altitudes. The information everywhere is so limited that besides shanti stupa and sangam, most tour guides, prefer going high up.But believe me leh town is at least worth spending a day or two.Who wouldn't want to shop for those pearls or beautiful souvenir. And not to forget those roadside fresh apricots.

Of course winters are different scene altogether when shops are closed,or open for one -two hours.

WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU ARRIVE LEH?

1)SHANTI STUPA: Shanti stupa is a Buddhist white domed stupa on a hilltop and it provides panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. The stupa looks beautifully illuminated at night and can even be seen from a distance.

Very near to the main city and can be reached anytime. Can even be climbed,to the hilltop on a leisure walk.

2)NIMMU: Nimmu is where Indus and Zanskar Rivers Meet. The difference in their colors can easily be identified. One can either be there for half and hour to one hour click some pics and go back, not much to do here. The bank is not so wide where we can camp.

5)MAGNETIC HILL,LEH:This is one of the wonders of the world. There is a magnetic hill in Leh - Ladakh. It is one of the wonders of Himalayan Mountain. To experience the magnetic power you have to place your vehicle on a specific spot (Local authority has put up a bill-board to identify the place) and switch off the vehicle. Soon you will notice the vehicle will climb the hill at a speed of around 20 km/hr.

6)LEH PALACE:Leh Palace is one of the most captivating architectural ruins that attract the attention of the tourists almost immediately with its majestic setting at the edge of the Namgyal hill and overlooking the town.Though there is not much to see inside the palace, infact climbing up the stairs of the dark ruins could be just a waste of time,.Though the palace looks beautiful when illuminated at night.
